Nairobi Clinic

Nairobi is the Capital of Kenya inhabited by over 3 million people.  HIV prevalence in Nairobi is 9%; 11% among women and 7.1% among men.

Based at the Centre for Respiratory Diseases Research at KEMRI, the Nairobi clinic opened in 1997 to provide care for research participants.  In addition to being the site of many research projects, in September 2004 the program began providing HIV care to the general population in Nairobi, and in March 2005 this expanded to include ARVs for adults and then children.
