Position: Program Coordinator

Family AIDS Care and Education Services (FACES), a collaboration between the Kenya Medical Research Institute and the University of California, San Francisco is a dynamic HIV prevention, care and treatment program in Kenya (www.faces-kenya.org).  Currently, FACES-Nyanza supports care for over 20,000 women, men and children with a 150 person staff.  We are seeking a motivated, pro-active individual to fill the role of Program Coordinator for FACES-Nyanza.

Duties include:

  • Development of program systems to ensure delivery of high quality accessible HIV prevention, care and treatment services in the districts we support
  • Oversight of the implementation of the programs developed including clinical care, mentoring, training, site evaluation and development, counseling and education, community follow-up, commodity management, and monitoring and evaluation
  • Oversight of budget development and participation in budget management
  • Developing and maintaining relations with the Program Directors (Kenya and US-based), and partners including the Ministry of Health, collaborators and donors
  • Clinical mentoring and training
  • Supervision of Kenyan and international medical students and residents
  • Consulting on program-related research
  • Leadership development and capacity building

The job involves approximately 70% program development and coordination, and 30% clinical mentoring and patient care.

Key Requirements:

  • Degree in Medicine and registered (or eligible) to practice with the Kenya Medical and Dental Practitioners Board
  • MPH or MMed (Medicine or Paediatrics an advantage)
  • Minimum 4 years experience in HIV clinical care
  • Minimum 2 years experience in management of a multi-site health program
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Knowledge of MS office
  • Must have demonstrated exemplary leadership skills
  • Must be a team player and motivator

Position: Assistant Program Coordinator / Medical Officer

Family AIDS Care and Education Services is a comprehensive HIV program that is based in Nyanza. We are seeking a motivated, pro-active individual to fill the role of Assistant Programme Coordinator/Medical Officer. This is a rapidly expanding program with a lot of potential for growth within the organization. Please note this is NOT a research position.

Duties shall include:

  • Deputizing in the formation and coordination of various program systems including clinical care, mentoring, training, site evaluation and development, counseling and education, community follow-up, reporting, and commodity management
  • Clinical care of patients, clinical mentoring and training of staff on and off-site
  • Establishing collaborations with other partners
  • Timely reporting to NASCOP and donors

The job is 50% clinical work and 50% program development and coordination.

Key Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Medicine and registered to practice with the Kenya Medical and Dentists Practitioners Board
  • Experience in HIV care will be an added advantage
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Must be a team player
  • Excellent computer skills
