Study pilots home-based approach to testing & counseling for couples

We recently wrapped up the pilot phase of our Jamii Bora study, which is testing a home-based approach to offering pregnant couples HIV testing and counseling. Prior research has shown that couples who participate in HIV testing and disclosure are more likely to start ART early, prevent HIV transmission (if a couple is serodiscordant), and be more engaged in HIV care in other ways. By offering HIV testing and disclosure in the convenient, private setting of a couple’s home, we hope to increase testing rates, improve linkages to care, and ultimately, prevent mother-to-child HIV transmission.

Initial findings from the pilot are promising and we look forward to sharing more data soon!
